Orange kitchens – the sunny side of life

Oh I love an orange accent wall – it’s a color that is guaranteed to lift my spirits and make me smile. Isn’t that exaclty what you need every morning in your kitchen?

It’s even better in close-up, or at least I think so:

As if creating a Maine home out of old shipping containers wasn’t cool enough, artist Adam Kalkin picked the perfect orange for the walls:

In this Australian home by Scott Weston, the block of sunny orange extends into the kitchen – a lovely contrast with the dark base cabinets and counters:

I’ll admit the orange is just a small part of the delicious craziness in this kitchen by my Barcelona crush, Minim (see more of their Barcelona kitchens here) – but I’m sure the orange is making it a happier space:

I’m pretty sure a splash of sunny orange could add a little happiness to any space – although it might subract an equal amount of cool sophistication. I’d be content with that tradeoff in a busy family kitchen – what do you think?
