Happy Bastille Day! Images culled over time from Marie Claire Maison:
It’s great to celebrate your nationhood/revolution with fireworks at the height of summer. We poor Brits (though I am American too) did have a so-called “Glorious Revolution” in 1688 (we swapped one king for another, while the first was out of the country – go figure*), but we keep that pretty quiet, our fireworks are to commemorate poor old Guido Fawkes, who was executed horribly after failing to blow up the Houses of Parliament on November 5th in 1605. At least it gets dark early in November, so nobody is kept up late. That just wouldn’t be polite, would it?
* Could be historically inaccurate, don’t take my word for it, I’m only a K&B designer
