So Pink
The power of paint demonstrated in Sophie Conran’s Bayswater kitchen – without that lipstick pink backdrop it wouldn’t be nearly as interesting – just another collection of eclectically cluttered open shelves and neutral colours.
It’s interesting how the pink has stayed put (apparently chosen by Sophie’s daughter) while other changes have taken place – the chairs, table, and countertops have been changed, and the Aga has sprung a companion. I can’t really see the detail in this picture, but has the tile backsplash changed too?
Funny how the paint – the cheapest and easiest thing of all to change, has become the trademark of this kitchen. A case of if it ain’t broke don’t fix it?

Hi Steph – I agree it makes that kitchen, although I’ve never been a pink person myself. The best think is how easily the whole mood could be changed, with just a different color paint. It helps that it’s a great room to start with, doesn’t it
Sometimes I am embarrassed to admit how much I love pink. I’ll admit it today though, it totally makes that kitchen!
