Spring kitchens
I’ve been poking around, virtually of course, in Northern Europe for signs of Spring. Here’s a little collection of images celebrating that special sunshine that comes when the sun is still low in the sky, and the leaves are not yet on the trees. I’ve been watching the snow melt on some of the Scandinavian blogs, so it’s lovely to see flowers and sunlight in the kitchens (click pictures for links to source blogs):
It’s that low angle of the sun that gets me all excited – it had me waxing lyrical in South Wales in the middle of Winter (here), and one lucky year I was just amazed by the light in Helsinki right at the end of August – down here at latitude 38 we only see it at the beginning and end of the day. Probably only painters and photographers would ever regard it as adequate compensation for snow shoveling and six month Winters – perhaps that explains why there are so many lovely decor blogs in those Scandinavian countries? Though I haven’t seen many from Alaska
