Monday gallery – kitchen tables

02.22.2010 · Posted in Kitchens

What could be better than some inviting kitchen tables to start the week? When there’s room, there’s nothing quite like a real table in the kitchen for sharing conversation or taking a break from kitchen tasks:

All dressed up with bright gingham cloth and vintage chairs

Plain and simple, an inviting view

I think this table has seen a lot of life

A place to work or take a break

Where there is no space for a real sit-down table, a narrow bar-height table with a couple of stools can make an inviting temporary perching place – and isn’t that jelly mould pendant light a touch of genius?

Stools provide a perching place

Is it a table or an island - maybe both?

A fortunate kitchen with stools for perching as well as a table

The sun streaming in to this last kitchen takes me right to my happy place, that’s definitely somewhere I’d like to start my week – I hope it worked for you too!

  1. Hi Paul, right, nothing like it. Though a nice stool to perch on is not a bad thing – I always wish I had one when I’m cooking risotto. I guess I mean not a bad thing but not the same thing, really!

  2. Hi Cheryl – that sounds like a really good idea. Pine does tend to gather a lot of character, doesn’t it?

  3. Sarah…love some of these tables! I have a pine table I use as my desk and need to get creative with it for new building! Think will use as a conference table in the resource room so that when it gets dinged up from throwing tile and fabric and such on it, then will still look good! I wold like the “sawhorse” one for my new desk!!

  4. I’m with you. Nothing says “home” to me like a generously-sized and well-worn kitchen table. Breakfast bars make me want to scream, but a kitchen table? Now that’s living.
