But why?

Plant Based Air Purification

The ANDREA air filter, previously just a concept known as the Bel-Air, is now available for purchase! French designer Mathieu Lehanneur conceived of ANDREA as a home air filter that naturally purifies air using nature’s best technology: plants.

Don’t plants do that on their own? What do you need the fancy plastic container for? (A mere $199 on Amazon – not sure if the plant is included).

  1. Depends what’s outside the window, really. Meanwhile the plant, the soil bacteria, and the humans are all giving off a variety of VOCs of their own. Too much to worry about … luckily you’d need a heck of a lot of them to make much real difference in your house in either direction. Happy Thanksgiving to you too

  2. Actually, most house plants release VOCs. Harmless ones, but VOCs none the less. Any air purifying that gets done by a potted plant is actually done by the bacteria in the soil they grow in. But all told it’s a break even proposition. If you want clean air, open a window. But then again, that doesn’t cost anything and can’t possibly be effective. Can it? Happy Thanksgiving!
