What Nonsense!
As a blogger and kitchen design addict, I spend way too much time looking through kitchen photos. And here’s something I see way too many times:

Big stools, small kneespace (chalon.com)
Yup, it’s stools, all dressed up with nowhere to go. People need knee space if they’re going to sit anywhere for more than a few minutes – does this look even remotely comfortable?

And it would be nice to tuck the stools out of the way under the counter when they’re not in use, too -

I put it down to stylists, and in some cases realtors, wanting to make the kitchen look more inviting for the photograph. No real designer would do that, would they? It makes my knees hurt, just looking.
Hi Paul – and thanks so much for the mention! I’ve been lurking on (and linking to) your awesome blog for quite a while now, I didn’t mean to be mysterious, I’m just such a newbie I haven’t got all the ID stuff figured out. It was really great to find your “shoutout” (or whatever the technical term is) when I came home this evening. And I know exactly what you mean about putting ideas in people’s heads – and it all looks so harmless ….
I blame stylists, realtors and catalog photographers. That kind of stuff makes me crazy because it puts ideas into peoples’ heads that I have to undo. Grrr. Anyhow, I just found your blog yesterday and I quoted you today: http://www.kitchenandresidentialdesign.com/2009/10/i-am-shocked-and-appalled.html
Have a great night and keep it up!
