White with everything – some Scandinavian kitchens

09.05.2009 · Posted in Kitchens

One of the best things about white cabinets is that you can accent with any color or combination of colors that make you happy.  Here are a few white kitchens from Sweden, each with its own unique character.

I love how the fat round table echoes the curve of the window, and the red Wegner chairs are the perfect accent in this space.  I also like the eclecticism of clean contemporary cabinets in a traditional space – certainly easier to do than the other way around. (via b-martin.se)

Another white kitchen with red accents – this one is contemporary through and through. I’m curious, it looks as though this house is in the woods – is that large mural really necessary? I love how the glossy floor makes everything seem to float. The lighting is distinctly utilitarian, but by following the adage that you can make something cheap look expensive by pure repetition, it is effective. I hope they have dimmers for all those halogen lamps!

Another contemporary white kitchen – the color is in the accessories. What struck me here is again the lighting – I really like those baroque little fixtures all over the ceiling, and the contrast they create with the rest of the space.  I hope the floor lamp is only there for the photograph – perhaps it indicates that this lighting plan is not as good as it looks.
