It’s all about the materials
Here are some more images from the fantabulous Murdock Young Architects. To be perfectly honest, I don’t quite understand the layout of this kitchen from the pictures alone, but isn’t the juxtapositon of the different materials wonderful?

Did you have to do a double -take to see if you there was a mirror? I did! Check out this detail of the high-tech cabinet fronts – what a brilliant contrast with the hand-crafted look of the tile:

Then there’s the brushed metal base cabinets, with those thick wood counters that almost look like something you could find at the beach after a huge winter storm:
