Escape to Finland
We’re having our usual Indian Summer here in Northern California, and all this heat has me dreaming of escaping somewhere cool, fresh, and serene. I’ve been hunting down some pictures of kitchens in Finland, and of course, as you would excpect I found plenty of crisp, white, Scandinavian design. But what I’m really in the mood for today are the rustic cottage kitchens I came across. First, here’s an exterior shot to set the mood:

And a couple of kitchens. Definitely a rustic cottage – look at those walls. Lots of wood, as you’d expect, and great accents of warm red:

Here the sleeker cabinets contrast with the woodsy interior – love the warmth of those log walls against the gray and white cabinets. With a cottage like this, it’s obviously rather difficult to scribe the cabinets exactly to the wall!
