Dogs in the kitchen

Today I’d like to share some images of dogs in the kitchen. Just because they are so cute.

Now, obviously, those are both good dogs, as you would expect from any dog associated in any way with Martha.

The top picture reminds me that it is a good idea to allow a space in the kitchen where your dog’s bed will not be under foot – but they do like to be close to the action, don’t they.  And if you’ve ever put your foot in the  dog’s water bowl as you rush around your kitchen, you will appreciate the value of a spot between cabinets or under a counter overhang where that bowl can go safely.

The next two pooches look as though they’d by happy to help themselves, if only you’d leave them alone with that yummy food for a while …

And then there’s this last picture- someone is looking suitably guilty here. It looks like these two got into the kitchen garbage and had a whale of a time!

So what do you think is the most dog-proof kitchen trash solution? I’m in favor of a pull-out attached to a cabinet door, as a human can operate it with one hand, while I’ve yet to meet a dog who has figured it out.  But sometimes there just isn’t space to spare for that -  I find that a determined mutt can lift the lid of most types of garbage can with his nose, and if that doesn’t work, he can just push the whole thing over.  I’d love to hear of any clever solutions you might have come up with!
