On accessorizing your kitchen
I love this post about moving into a new home from Apartment Therapy – especially the part about waiting to buy furnishings, etc. until you can afford something you really want. It reminds me of our first little house, where we lived with a plastic picnic table in our dining room at least a year. I was eventually able to pick up a lovely blonde oak arts and crafts dining table with six chairs from a local junk/antiques market, which was just perfect. I was so happy we waited!
The same advice applies to accessorizing your kitchen after a remodel … you could rush out to the nearest discount or high-design store and buy all your accessories at once, but it is so much more satisfying to pick up treasures one at a time as you live in the space. That way your collection evolves with your tastes and interests, and becomes much more than kitchen decoration – it is a reflection and a record of the life lived in your kitchen, too.

Enchanted Cottage
Right now I am very jealous of a recent lucky client of ours, who scored a gorgeous pair of Staffordshire dogs to display in her white/cream/stainless steel kitchen. I love mixing the old with the new, and this is a great classic accent for any kitchen.
