Kitchen planning – emphasis

Oven with cream kitchen

I’m still reflecting on selecting the right focal point for your kitchen design. Here is a  clean and simple contemporary kitchen, but doesn’t your eye go straight to the oven?  Is that what the designer wanted? Are they really that proud of the wall oven?

It’s not that I don’t like ovens, I think they’re wonderful, wouldn’t be without one myself.  But it is often better to try to put it on a side wall, or where it is not the first thing you see from a connected living area. Don’t you think?

Apart from that I love this kitchen – the glass display shelves are a great use of the corners in this U-shaped design. Although, l wonder where the refrigerator is?

I found this older post when I searched your blog for refrigerators. You’ve talked about microwaves and AGA vs French ovens, but I don’t see anything about the fridge.

What do you think of exposed stainless vs hidden by cabinet panels? What about the Smeg for older kitchens? Where do you stand on glass doors, like the SubZero Pro 48?
